How a regular day looks like as a Team Lead Accounting?

As Team Lead Accounting you will be responsible for directing the 2 corporate accountants. The corporate accounting team is responsible of 6 legal entities: the House of HR, the House of Finance, the House of Pledge, the House of Invest, the House of IT Talents and the House of IT Support.

  • The House of HR is a company gathering all corporate projects and cross-charging them, through management fees, to our subsidiaries.
  • The House of Finance is the financing company, having an external debt on the balance sheet, which is (partially) refinanced to our subsidiaries.
  • The House of Pledge is a holding entity with minor activity.
  • The House of Invest is composed of all digital initiatives, for which Research and Development is the key word.
  • The House of IT Talents holds all investments in IT subsidiaries
  • The House of IT Support is a company gathering all IT projects and cross-charging them, through management fees, to our subsidiaries.

What are your main tasks as Team Lead Accounting?

  • Reviewing and guiding the 2 corporate accountants in their day to day job.
  • Preparation and follow-up of the monthly closing process. This mainly includes:
    • Prepare budget-actual meetings and discuss fluctuations with the different departments (legal, risk, IT, etc.).
    • Update the monthly trial balance and review open provisions, such as invoices to be received/invoiced, interest to be paid, etc.
    • Perform an analytical review of the P&L, including review of the interest income and expense.
    • Preparation of the flat files (= data coming from Business Central) and uploading these in the group software (Tagetik).
    • Review and reconciliation of intercompany differences with our subsidiaries.
    • Review of the expenses relating to digital initiatives, including inquiry with the IT department, and verification of what can be considered as capex vs. opex.
    • Review of the monthly MJE recorded by the corporate accountants.
    • Review of the Tagetik cash flow statement and explain the main movements.
    • Review of any questions received from the corporate controlling team.
  • A quarterly preparation of the cross-charges, management fees and royalties to be charged to our subsidiaries.
  • Involvement in the yearly budget exercise.
  • Preparation of the quarterly reforecast.
  • Preparation of the quarterly reporting for the remuneration committee.
  • Preparation of the quarterly reporting of the digital initiatives vs. budget.
  • Supporting the internal and external audit and follow up on any question received.
  • Review of the annual financial statements, report and minutes Board of Directors and minutes Shareholders Meetings as prepared by the corporate accountants.
  • Preparation of the annual tax declaration, in cooperation with an external consultant.
  • Optimalisation of the current structure and way of working via reporting tools such as PowerBI.
  • Preparation of ad hoc requests.
